For the 6th year in a row, a MINI designed exclusively for the Life Ball will come under the hammer. For the Life Ball 2006, MINI provided the Italian jeans and fashion brand DIESEL with a MINI Cooper convertible, which was “trimmed” on DIESEL according to the ideas of creative director Wilbert Das and designed by Davide Martini.
Against the backdrop of more than 40,000 visitors, this unique MINI celebrated its world premiere at Europe’s largest AIDS charity event, the LifeBall in Vienna.
From 20 to 30 June 2006, the MINI will now be auctioned on eBay (www.ebay.at) in favor of Life Ball . The starting price is 1 Euro. The auction promises – as in previous years – again to become an exciting experience.
The MINI designed by DIESEL:
The typical “Diesel” used look has been transferred to the MINI Cooper Convertible. The paint treated in a special technique that simulates a heavy duty. All body components have been given a contrasting stitching as a
border. All Chrome parts have been replaced with equivalent
copper-look components , which is the same as the rivets on DIESEL jeans, which are also copper-colored. MINI’s premiere is the likewise
redesigned rims, which now speak a clear language: copper!
Interior:
Front and rear seats were upholstered in a light brown Alcantara suede blend, on the headrests of the front seats were each the well-known Indian heads with the words “DIESEL – only the brave” lasered. In the cockpit, similar to the exterior design, all chrome parts have been replaced with copper-colored fittings – all instruments, the middle air vents, the ring on the gear knob, the bezel on the handbrake handle, the cup holders and so on.
Hood:
The original textile top was preserved to ensure the necessary wind, water and noise resistance. In addition, the convertible has a denim top from countless DIESEL jeans that can be attached via the regular hood. Along the entire denim cover run 2 racing stripes of white denim. Of course, the hood has countless practical pants pockets ….
Renzo Rosso, founder of Diesel: “I have great respect for what MINI has already achieved, and MINI has managed to innovate and express creativity in one of the most conservative markets, the automotive market Having decided to design the MINI Cooper Cabriolet, we wanted to do it a la DIESEL, in which we incorporated our passion for the processing of materials and the “vintage” feel into this “Special Car Edition.” The result is an incredible interaction Passion, creativity, irony and technology – just a perfect mix of DIESEL DNS and MINI know-how. “
